A normal Thursday at Glenside Farm… or not!

It definitely was not a normal Thursday as we got ready to welcome the Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister to Glenside Farm. He was joined by Nick Mathison MLA, Elizabeth from DAERA and Aoibeam from Rural Support NI.

It was an opportunity to talk about the work we are able to do with the community through different funding streams and through our volunteers. Iain was able to talk about the challenges of farming from Blue Tongue to financial margins to how to encourage those wanting to farm but without a farming background to connect with farms that can train and develop young people.

Sam, one of our volunteers was present to share his experiences of supporting us on the farm as a volunteer. And an hour and half before the visit, his mum Julie helped Iain deliver twin lambs - taking her nursing skills to another level.

We love sharing our space with the community and have a fabulous group of volunteers. Thank you to each and everyone who supports us and makes farming a community affair.
